About Us

Hi. Hello. Now, GTFO! Just kidding, hang around for a bit and learn more.
At GTFO, we want you to GTFO. Get the F*ck Out, literally outside... or outside of your comfort zone... or, well both. So, we make products that make women's lives easier so they can GTFO and challenge themselves in the ways they really want to.
Made in California.

A note from the boss:
I started GTFO for several reasons. I’m a designer and a maker and I wanted to create intentionally-designed products that hopefully improved and simplified the lives of those who use them. I was also horrified at how fast fashion promoted deplorable wage practices and contributed significantly to the degradation of the planet. I saw an opportunity to join a growing number of small companies combatting these issues and build a company that acted responsibly in the world.
These are our commitments thus far:
1. Fair Wages: While we are making everything in-house for this first production run, we have vetted and have been building relationships with two production partners in Los Angeles who pay their employees from minimum wage up to 30% above minimum wage. While it’s not ideal, it’s a start.

2. Sustainability: Materials we are using: cork, waxed canvas, and deadstock fabric.
  • Cork: A sustainable, durable, and water-resistant material, cork is harvested from the bark of cork oak trees. Since the bark regenerates, it can be harvested around every decade or so without clearcutting. Cork forests also contribute to the ecology of the area promoting soil conservation, support diverse wildlife, and contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Waxed Canvas: We are using a durable, water-resistant waxed canvas without the harmful, environmentally damaging fluoropolymers or formaldehyde.
  • Deadstock: This is typically fabric that has imperfections or is the "dead end" of supply. Think of it as a way to recycle fabric. This will be a surprise. As it comes in small quantities, only a few bags will have the same interior. We source locally in the Bay Area and find the weirdest, funnest prints available.
3. Engagement: As a woman-owned business, it is our commitment that from the start, 5% of all profits will go to support organizations that empower women. This first production run will support Emily's List, which aims to get more Pro-Choice, Democratic women elected to office.

I admit that this list is neither exhaustive nor anywhere near perfect, but we have to start somewhere. I look forward to continuing to be as transparent as possible and sharing more with you as we grow.
Cheers,
Ashley
